Reflecting on horticulture

I haven't been very good at posting anything and I never have. I keep telling myself that I'll post more regularly because I think people like following along and it's nice to look back through and see the changes over time. My accountant and business coach has been encouraging me to make it a more regular thing. I have never felt comfortable in front of a camera or on a stage of any sorts. I have always preferred being behind the scenes and keeping a low profile. But today I started feeling a bit different and maybe more inspired. We will see if it lasts.

Sometimes at the end of a work day I'll sit at a different spot in the garden and admire what was achieved that day, the last week or month or even year. I get excited about the things to come like the ripening cucumbers and tomatoes or try and mentally troubleshoot things that aren't working. I look at the past projects that have been game changers for my day to day work life and the people who contributed some of their time to make it happen.

Without a doubt farming is hard. It is the hardest thing I have ever done. It is playing a game of chess against nature everyday. It is constant strategizing of how to achieve the best outcomes and deliver a product consistently week after week. But I think that is partly why I'm so addicted to it. There is an endless amount of things to learn and upskill on. I definitely feel like the more I learn the less I know.
